讲者简介:
Bingyu Wang has conducted her PhD research in Asian Studies at the University of Auckland, focusing on migrations, diversities, emotions, and cosmopolitanisms. Specifically, her work uses ‘everyday’ and ‘rooted cosmopolitanism’ to examine social mobility patterns, everyday intercultural encounters, identity dynamics and mobility aspirations of the new Chinese migrants to New Zealand. In particular, her research has explored how the complex emotional dynamics generated from interacting with cultural others both promote and undermine migrants’ capacity to engage in cosmopolitan sociability and build intercultural relations. She has presented at a number of recent international conferences, including: Asia-Pacific Worlds in Motion Conference V (Vancouver), 20th NZASIA Biennial International Conference (Auckland), IAG/NZGS Conference 2014(Melbourne), ICAS 2015 (Adelaide). Alongside her PhD research, she has published several articles in world-leading journals including Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Ethnic and Racial Studies, and Asian and Pacific Migration Journal. A new area of research interest emerging from her doctoral studies has been how emotional temporalities interrelate to every day migrant lives.
